Managing to beat Spezia 3-2 on matchday 33 of the 2022-2023 Serie A TIM, Atalanta claimed their third victory in a row and brought their points tally to 58.
With Spezia taking the lead through Gyasi in the 18th minute, the match immediately went uphill for Gasperini’s men. However, Atalanta’s reaction was quick and the equaliser was inches close when Toloi’s header was almost cleared off the line by Dragowski. De Roon levelled the score anyway in the 32nd minute with a fantastic volley from outside the box following a corner. The Atalanta pressure kept growing and led to a double Pašalić chance, but both efforts were offside anyway.
In the second half, the black-and-blues picked up where they left off and completed the comeback in the 48th minute with a goal that was dynamically similar to the equaliser: the corner was cleared by the visiting defenders but then Zappacosta managed to find a way to beat Dragowski with a great finish from the edge of the box. After another Zappacosta chance saved by the visiting goalkeeper on 50 minutes, Muriel made it 3-1 in the 54th minute, once again following a corner: Djimsiti laid it off for the Colombian, who drilled home to score his 100th Serie A goal. Atalanta almost added a fourth goal when Zappacosta’s diving header was turned onto the crossbar by Dragowski. From a potential 4-1, Bourabia made it 3-2 and the visitors nearly equalised through Verde, whose strike smacked against the crossbar on 87 minutes.
