On matchday 24 of the 2023-2024 Serie A TIM, Atalanta won 4-1 away to Genoa at the Ferraris Stadium.
A very intense game played at a high tempo since the opening minutes saw the deadlock broken 22 minutes into the match when Pašalić’s pass found De Ketelaere on the edge of the box: the Belgian forward trapped the ball and looped a shot into the far top corner to put Atalanta ahead. In the 29th minute, De Ketelaere wreaked havoc again but the Genoa defenders managed to deny him with a bit of difficulty before Carnesecchi got one glove both on Vasquez’s header and then on Retegui’s 41st-minute shot from the edge of the box.
Genoa’s started on the front foot in the second half, as Retegui tested Carnesecchi, while Frendrup skimmed the post. On 51 minutes, Malinovskyi hit a ferocious left-foot scorcher into the top corner to level the score. However, the Nerazzurri hit back immediately and restored their lead on 55 minutes through a stunning Koopmeiners free-kick, which flew over the wall to end up behind Martinez. There was also room for El Bilal to make his Atalanta debut. On 60 minutes, Kolašinac played in Pašalić, but Martinez made a save to clear. In the 76th minute, the Genoa goalkeeper saved from Ruggeri and Pašalić, and then Scalvini found the winning deflection, but the goal was disallowed after a lengthy review at the V.A.R. for an offside touch by Pašalić. Carnesecchi did well to deny Gudmundsson from close range in the dying minutes before Zappacosta made it 3-1 in the 100th minute when he turned home Martinez’s rebound from Miranchuk. But the celebrations weren’t over yet as, in the 103rd minute, El Bilal scored his first goal for Atalanta, heading home Miranchuk’s cross to make it 4-1.
