2020-2021 review: Mattia Caldara

The season of the Nerazzurri number 13

Mattia Caldara’s 2020-2021 season was influenced by the injury that forced him to skip practically the entire first part, but as a Bergamo native who came through the youth academy, he still got the satisfaction of playing a few minutes in the match against Real Madrid, which is destined to stay in the Atalanta history. With his values and his seriousness he was a precious presence in the dressing room: he played 9 games in all competitions (6 in Serie A TIM, 1 in the UEFA Champions League, 2 in the Coppa Italia).

He started in the first match of the season that the Nerazzurri won 4-2 away to Torino, then he always featured as a substitute giving his contribution in the victories over Parma, Milan, Crotone and Bologna in the league, Lazio in the quarterfinals and Napoli in the semifinal second leg in the Italian Cup. And then, as aforementioned, he also played some minutes at Real Madrid in the second leg of the Champions League Round of 16, which will remain a special moment anyway.

Then the official Lega Serie A statistics about the league: 116 minutes played, 3.273 km run on average per game, 2 shots taken, 1 goalscoring chance created, 1 key pass, 12 recoveries, 1 foul suffered.
