Aleksey Miranchuk is the POTM of January ’24

From a joint-venture with ItalianOptic

Never before this season as in January did picking Atalanta’s man of the month prove itself such a strenuous task. Nonetheless, you answered the call and cast your votes for the first ItalianOptic Player of the Month of 2024: ladies and gentlemen, here comes Aleksey Miranchuk!

Miranchuk opened up the year on the right foot with: one goal and one assist in the 3-1 win over Sassuolo, another key pass against Roma, the penalty awarded in the comeback win against Milan and, last but not least, yet another goal in the Udinese clash. Leaving his mark with flair and consistency in equal measure, Aleksey’s glow-up was one for the books: becoming a household name on the Nerazzurri’s sheet in four out of the five January fixtures. Miranchuk’s strokes of brilliance were the undisputed X factors behind a much deserved Player of the Month, entering the ItalianOptic yearbook three years after his last feature.

Given the fiercest opposition, claiming a win in this month’s edition was no plain sailing for Miranchuk. Aleksey bested a relentless Charles De Ketelaere: with two goals and an assist against Sassuolo, another feature on the scoresheet against Frosinone and a brace of key passes in the Udinese clash, CDK undoubtedly showed his best half last month and, spoiler alert, thanks to his latest brace against Lazio, Charles already forwarded his application for the February run.

On the third step of the podium Teun Koopmeiners: the Dutch midfielder was instrumental in the Roma draw with a magisterial header, led the comeback win in the Coppa Italia tie against Milan with his brace and opened the scoring in the Frosinone walkover from the spot.
