“Blame it on the Bossa Nova”: Éderson wins the POTM

From a joint-venture with ItalianOptic

Senhoras e senhores, Éderson dos Santos! Now in his second season as a Nerazzurro, the Carioca midfielder lifted his second ItalianOptic POTM award after his first-ever feature in the contest last April.

Despite his already solid season start, Éderson‘s performance simply skyrocketed at the turn of the calendar and culminated in an astonishing October: him being a lynchpin of Atalanta’s starting XIs and having been substituted just once are but a mere reflection of his top-notch, consistent and spotless performances. And to top it all off, Éderson came into his own also scoring-wise, leaving his mark against Lazio and Genoa.

The runner-up of this month’s edition is none other than Scamacca, earning his first nomination for the POTM award. Despite his quiet start, as soon as Gianluca’s form picked up, he truly embodied the meaning of his shirt number in the Italian Smorfia, striking nothing but fear in the hearts of the opposing defences and with his stunning display against Empoli as a telltale sign of things to come.

As for the third place, it seems that “The odd couple” has taken up residence: having Matteo Ruggeri, the scorer of Atalanta’s second goal in the Lisbon night, and Marten de Roon, a regular of the POTM podiums, tied on points, the two Nerazzurri will have to huddle together this time.

Parabéns to Éderson for his much-deserved Player of the Month award! And now, a PSA to all our Atalanta fans: we’ll catch you next month!
