On matchday 10 of the 2022-2023 Serie A TIM, Atalanta beat Sassuolo 2-1 at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo celebrating their 115th birthday in the best way.
Atalanta donned a special shirt this evening to celebrate the club’s 115th birthday. The first big chance of the game came off Pašalić on 14 minutes, as his shot was parried by Consigli after a good give-and-go with Lookman. However, it was Sassuolo who took the lead in the 41st minute with a stunning volley into the underside of the bar from Kyriakopoulos. Gasperini’s men immediately reacted to it through Mæhle, whose curler in the 43rd minute was inches over the bar, and Pašalič, who levelled up the match in the first minute of stoppage time assisted by Soppy.
The Nerazzurri got off to a strong start in the second half and took the lead within thirty seconds, as Soppy slide-rule pass found Lookman, who shrugged off his defender, cut inside and curled into the far top corner with his left foot. Sassuolo threatened in the 64th minute with a Berardi curler that bounced off the crossbar but Atalanta almost added a third goal in the 81st minute when Højlund stole the ball off the visitors and severely tested Consigli. Finally, Boga went on the counterattack and spread down the left for Ruggeri, whose angled drive flashed across the face of goal finishing just wide.
