Atalanta Academy at the “Festival Bergamo Scienza”

The group took part in educational and involving projects

A handful of youngsters (both boys and girls) from the Atalanta Academy  had the chance to dabble with plenty of educational, formative and engaging projects at the 21st edition of BergamoScienza, the science festival that involves the city and the province of Bergamo every year since 2003.

The Academy players currently living in the Casa del Giovane housings, together with the Women’s U17s and a group of players from the U18s, took part in the interactive multimedia workshop arranged by “Associazione Atena” (Atena Voluntary Association) at the 21st edition of the Festival Bergamo Scienza (Bergamo Science Fair) on Wednesday October 4: within the premises of a controlled environment, the attendees were brought through a (simulated) hazardous situation in order to experience first-hand what driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs entails

The project is aimed at reducing the road accidents related to the consumption of alcohol and drugs, a nation-wide social plight that affects a large number of youngsters also within the Bergamo province.

Our youngsters approached the workshop with the utmost seriousness and took part in all its activities, made all the more riveting and thrilling thanks to the presence of  modern technological supports, guided by both seasoned professionals and a peer group of young volunteers embroiled in the “Ragazzi on the Road” project – where participants lay their service on the road alongside officers of law enforcement bodies ( Polizia and Carabinieri) and fire departments to rescue  people in emergency situations

The also took part in the Escape room about gambling addiction, gaining precious insights on the underlying risks related to the aforementioned practice.
The Atalanta youngsters have been accompanied by members of the educational staffing  from both the Academy and the Casa del giovane, together with a handful of coaches and physiotherapists. The supporting group also featured the important and invaluable presence of many parents.

The project has been devised and organized by a network of Institutions, Charitable and Voluntary associations: the Traffic Police section of Bergamo, the Ministry of Home Affairs, Local Police of the Municipality of Bergamo, the Health Protection Agency of  Bergamo, the ASST Papa Giovanni XXIII, the Atena Charitable Association, the Safe Driver Project, the “Cesare Pesenti” High School, the Natta High School, the Itaca social cooperative and the Ragazzi On the Road charitable Association
