Atalanta Bergamasca Calcio does not tolerate any form of racism or discrimination against any diversity and condemns all those involved in discriminatory attitudes.
All Atalanta says NO TO RACISM…

Atalanta joins KEEP RACISM OUT, the anti-discrimination campaign promoted by Lega Serie A, in collaboration with UNAR (Ufficio Nazionale Antidiscriminazioni Razziali della Presidenza del Consiglio dei Ministri – National Office against Racial Discrimination of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers), to guarantee equal treatment, the protection of human rights in football and to keep racism away from the stadiums. The campaign, presented at the beginning of the 2020/2021 sports season, continues with a series of initiatives dedicated to the 17th action week against racism, organized every year by UNAR and which is celebrated this year from 21 to 27 March.

In anticipation of the week dedicated to the initiatives against racism and promoted by the National Professionals League Serie A and by the other partners mentioned above, Atalanta has involved six team of its Youth Sector:
-Under 12
-Under 13
-Under 14
Both men’ and women’s teams participated in some online meetings in which the anti-discrimination matters and the problem of racism were discussed in a specific way.

The boys and girls were encouraged to reflect on the issue by the educational team of the Youth Sector by watching two short videos that were specially prepared and that gave examples of the racist behaviour from the past to the present days. Some Club’s managers, trainers and staff were present at the meetings. Some leading questions (reported below) and some examples of good practices of inclusion helped to stimulate participation and discussion.

  1. How did you feel when you watched the videos? What emotions did you experience?
  2. Try putting yourself in the shoes of a discriminated person… How would you feel?
  3. If you had to represent or draw this state of mind, how would you do it?
  4. Is there something you would like to say to the discriminated people to make them feel better?
  5. Is there something you would like to say to the people who use racist expressions?
  6. What are the possible reasons for the use of this kind of expressions by some people or their racist mentality?
  7. What could we do as a team, for our part, to try to change the phenomenon of racism?
  8. Would you like to make up some anti-racist slogan, poem, drawing or sketch?

At the end of the meetings all the thoughts, drawings, slogans, reflections of the six teams were gathered in a video made in collaboration with the Communications Area.

This short video is published on the official social accounts and the website of Atalanta and also on the National Professionals League’s Serie A dashboard.
