Thursday was a red-letter day for the Casa del Giovane as the local boarding house, where countless Academy players have taken up residence over the course of 50 years and counting, celebrated its half-century anniversary of activities with a “Capital C” celebration.

In addition to former players Pietro Fanna and Hubert Pircher keeping the banner of “Senior hosts” high, the event was also attended by: all the Academy footballers currently dwelling in the Casa del Giovane, the main Atalanta Youth System executives and coaches and Marco Carnesecchi and Matteo Ruggeri, who, acting as Firts Team spokespeople for the occasion, greeted Father Marco Perrucchini, head of the Casa del Giovane, with a commemorative jersey.

Acting on behalf of the whole Atalanta family altogether, Roberto Samaden, Head of the Atalanta Youth System, wished to convey his greetings and his most heartfelt gratitude for the work carried out over the years by the local institution. During their speeches, both Carnesecchi and Ruggeri rekindled the memories from their days as Casa del Giovane guests: while the former touched on his experience as a full-time resident during his Academy years, the latter recalled the times he, despite being a Bergamasco born and bred, would lunch at the Casa del Giovane before taking the bus bound to the Zingonia Training Centre.
