Atalanta For Special through to the Regional Final Phase

On the grounds of their 5-1 walkover

The last fixture of the DPCS (Tier 3-Group B) league saw Atalanta For Special close the regular season with yet another win: the Nerazzurri imposed themselves 5-1 over Arcobaleno Monza courtesy of Mateo Virgilito’s hattrick, a single goal by Mirko Bernini and the own goal conceded by the opposing side.

As customarily, the fixture has been held at the Play Sport Village venue in Busto Garolfo (MI).

THE RESUME

Off to a bubbly and hotly contested start since the very first minutes, the game took a black-and-blue turn amid the first half, when Mateo Virgilito finalised the previous give and go between Mirko Bernini and Emanuel Bombardieri to find his first of the game. A few minutes later, Virgilito pulled off a brace with a carbon copy goal of his previous opener.

After the customary halftime changes carried out by coach Gianmario Lesmo to ensure equal playing time, Atalanta For Special found their scoring ways once again, once more through Virgilito, who topped his performance off with a hat-trick after finishing Mirko Benini’s solo run.
After conceding an untoward own goal, Arcobaleno Monza pulled one goal back and made it 4-1.

With Mirko Bernini restoring Atalanta For Special’s four-goals lead, the Nerazzurri put the game to bed and fixed the scoring on the final 5-1.

Hats off to Atalanta For Special who, on the grounds of closing the regular season second in the standings, have qualified to the final stage of the DPCS regional championship, bound to begin on April 27.
