After the first 30 minutes of the games went by with neither team creating any notable chance, it was Panada who had a close brush with the goal on 31 minutes when his set-piece chance was deflected out for a corner by Soncin. In the 37th minute, the hosts took the lead as Piu finalised Pergolettese’s counter-attack with a powerful shot one-on-one with Vismara.

In the second half, the Nerazzurri came close to equalising in the 83rd minute through Vlahović, who hit the crossbar from inside the box, before Modesto’s side were reduced to ten men a minute later when Solcia was shown a straight red card. In the 96th minute, the visitors were awarded a penalty for Vismara’s foul on Bariti, who made no mistake from the spot to double Pergolettese’s lead.
