Atalanta v Bologna: the stats of the game

The Gewiss Stadium match in figures

The setback suffered against Bologna brought Atalanta’s run of 7 back-to-back league wins at the Gewiss Stadium, a Club’s new best on par with the previous streaks of the 67/68, 19/20 and 20/21 seasons, to its close. By extending the scope to all competitions, such tally amounts to 8 consecutive victories overall.

As remarked by Opta’s Stats Perform report, coach Gian Piero Gasperini reached the career milestone of  550 Serie A matches as a manager. Moreover, courtesy of Ademola Lookman‘s 8th league goal, Atalanta found his scoring ways for the 11th consecutive Serie A game for the first time ever since the November 2019-July 2020 span (when the tally stopped at 13). Now stacking up with Teun Koopmeiners in terms of league goals (8), the Nigerian striker has also extended his domestic scoring spree to 5 back-to-back games at the Gewiss Stadium: in addition to his brace against Milan, Mola also added his name to the scoresheet against Napoli, Lecce and Bologna.

Closing off with the customary individual figures provided by the Serie A’s official Match Report: while Lookman was the Atalanta player with the highest number of shots fired (3, on par with Bologna player Ferguson), the most successful dribbles (3) and conducive passes on the offensive 3rd (20, ahead of Marten de Roon with 13), the Oranje midfielder led the chart for most balls played (92), most successful passes (67) and ball retrievals (9, on par with Ferguson). MdR was also the best Atalantino in terms of key passes and goal chances created (2, tied with Charles De Ketelaere, Lookman and two Bologna players).
