Atalanta v Salernitana: the stats of the game

Miranchuk became Atalanta's 15th seasonal scorer

As a further crowning of Gian Piero Gasperini‘s 800th match as a professional coach and Mario Pašalić‘s 200th Serie A appearance (becoming the 4th all-time Croatian to reach such a remarkable milestone in the Italian top-flight), who also celebrated his personal breakthrough in absolute style with a goal, the Nerazzurri imposed themselves 4-1 over Salernitana: widening the scope also to the Europa League, it is Atalanta’s third consecutive win in less than 10 days and the team’s second back-to-back league triumph at the Gewiss Stadium.

As highlighted by Stats Perform’s Opta Facts, with 7 goals scored so far in the opening 15 minutes of the second half, no other Serie A team can outpace the scoring tempo of Gasperini’s lads’ past halftime. Luis Muriel is currently on a streak: with 4 goals in three consecutive matches in all competitions, Lucho has opened a new scoring tab at Atalanta after his last run of 7 consecutive nets – which dated back to the December 2020/January 2021 stint. In his last 5 home Serie A matches Ademola Lookman was directly involved in (at least) one goal, having scored four times and provided 2 assists. For the first time in the Serie A, Charles De Ketelaere has favoured (at least) one goal in two consecutive matches with 1 goal and 2 assists to his name; something that last occurred in April 2022 with Club Brugge. And, in keeping with CDK’s Serie A square ones, the Belgian has given a “double contribution” (i.e.: both a goal and an assist within a single match) for the first time since his move to Italy, resuming a habit that once again dates back to his Club Brugge days, namely to the match against Zulte Waregemback in December 2021. With last night’s goal, not only has Aleksey Miranchuk updated his offensive logs – with one goal and two assists to his name in the last three matches in all competitions -, but he also became Atalanta’s scorer number 15 so far this season: with 11 different players featuring the Serie A scoreboards so far, only Roma and Frosinone (with 12 each) can flaunt better numbers in that respect.

To round it all up, here are further insights and figures provided by the Serie A’s official Match Report: Pašalić was the absolute benchmark on the pitch in terms of most goal chances created (3), most number of passes (60, with a success rate of 88%), most passes forward (33), most key passes (3) and also the best Atalantino for ball retrievals (10). Muriel was instead the player with the highest number of shots (6, out of which 3 were on target) and the most fouled one (4). Matteo Ruggeri was instead the best on-field player in terms of completed passes on the trocar (18) and the best Atalantino for balls played (90).
