Cagliari v Atalanta: the stats of the game

The Sardinia game in figures

With his opener in the Unipol Domus game, Gianluca Scamacca has updated his scoring logs. As pointed out by Stats Perform’s Opta Facts, only three players in the Top-5 leagues can flaunt a higher scoring tally in 15  league starts than Atalanta’s number 90 (currently at eight): namely, Chris Wood (11), Elijah Adebayo (nine) and Diogo Jota (nine). Having found his scoring ways in two consecutive outings for the fifth time in the Serie A (and the first since the February/March 2022 interlude), the Italian striker has now reached this personal milestone also as a Nerazzurro after his previous stunts with Genoa and Sassuolo.

With the goal bearing Ademola Lookman‘s signature, now at an accumulated tally of 21 goals scored and 10 assists provided ever since landing in Bergamo, the Nigerian winger is one of six Serie A players (with the other five being Giroud, Dybala, Kvaratskhelia, Rafael Leão and Berardi) and the only African footballer on the list, to have scored at least 20 goals and to have dished out at least 10 assists in the last two league campaigns – namely, since the 2022/23 season.

Reaching his 200th Serie A overall appearance in Cagliari, such is the make-up of Davide Zappacosta‘s caps in the Italian top flight: his 110 games as an Atalanta player are opposed to the remaining 90 league features during his stints at Torino, Genoa and Roma. Moving on to the wingback’s domestic offensive contribution thus far, out of the 16 goals scored and the 19 assists provided overall, 10 nets and 10 key passes have been respectively bagged and favoured throughout his stay at the Orobic Club.

Closing off with the individual figures provided by the Serie A’s official Match report, while Lookman was the game’s benchmark in terms of successful passes on the offensive third 14, 2 more than Rafael Toloi, Sead Kolašinac leads the chart for balls played (85), one clear of Berat Djimsiti (84) who was instead the best player in terms of effective passes (57). In terms of ball retrievals Djimsiti, de Roon and Éderson  were the best nerazzurri of the game with 5 each. Lastly, El Bilal Touré is one of the three best footballers in the game as far as shots fired are concerned with 2.
