Matchday 12 of the 2023-2024 Serie A TIM saw Éderson’s stoppage-time header snatch a point for Atalanta at the Bluenergy Stadium in Udine.
The first half gave way to a hotly contested and straining match. On 31 minutes, Udinese were in with the chance to take the lead from the spot: despite being awarded a penalty after Carnesecchi’s on-rushing tackle to stop Ebosele’s high-speed counter, Udinese squandered their chance as Success hit the post. After Samardzic’s 43rd-minute left-foot curler bounced off the crossbar, Walace’s long-range effort a few seconds later took a huge deflection off Djimsiti to break the deadlock for the hosts.
After Gasperini threw on Scamacca and Lookman at the restart to mix things up a little bit, Carnesecchi was tested by Zemura’s 48th-minute finish from the left and in the 61st minute, he pulled off a huge save to deny Pereyra, whose effort was going into the far corner. Atalanta came up with a scoring threat on 64 when Koopmeiners’ cross from the right found Lookman at the back post, but the Nigerian forward’s finish was off target. On 78 minutes, Miranchuk picked out Scamacca inside the box, but the Italian fired over. The Nerazzurri snatched the equaliser in stoppage time when Zappacosta’s cross was nodded into the net by Éderson in the 92nd minute and could have taken the lead shortly after when Lookman drilled just wide.
With the league now going on hold to make way for the third international break of the season, training is set to resume on Tuesday afternoon with a behind-closed-doors session at the Centro Bortolotti.
