eSports: Frusciano to take part in the European Game eSports championships

Donning Italy's crest in Poland this June

Umberto Frusciano, Atalanta Esports pro player, will surely cherish this weekend: on the grounds of the victory clinched in the final qualifying phase, Umberto has punched his ticket for the European Game Esports Championships to be held in Poland next June where he will be representing Italy.

In the final phase, crucial to garnering a spot in Poland for the upcoming tournament, the 16 Italian pro players who had previously qualified battled themselves throughout a 4-hour-long knock-out stage which was aired live.

“Not having lost a single match within regular times and only having known defeat twice on pens, I’m most satisfied with my performances throughout this knockout stage,” said Umberto Frusciano.

“The final match truly holds an extra special feeling: after winning the first match 2-1 and having lost the rematch on pens, I managed to turn the tide of the tie-breaker with an agonic comeback; despite trailing 2-0 down in the 70th minute, I scored the three goals to make it 3-2 and to turn the match around in only 10 minutes″.

Given the quality and level of the competition, no match is a pushover; hence, a stern focus is always of the essence. Umberto is bound to represent Italy in the upcoming tournament in Poland

“Since it is my first time donning Italy’s colours, no doubt it will be a very special feeling (I’m already walking on air right now): all in all, it is an indescribable honour and a great deal of in equal measure”.

It is now high time for the Atalanta pro player to put in the extra training to develop those nerves of steel so much needed to land the Polish tournament in full strength.

“Naturally, my main goal is to win; I never tend to settle for anything less and this is what I will strive for. I will also do whatever it takes to compete at my level best, trying to defuse any extra pressure. The cream of the crop of Europe’s Esports players will compete in this tournament and their presence is only going to raise the bar even higher. The fact that I know them and their tactics in and out it’s just another incentive to up my ante”.
