Inter v Atalanta: the stats of the game

The stats from the Meazza match

Atalanta’s eight-match unbeaten run in the league – a ten-game streak if we consider all competitions (8W, 2D) – drew to a close against Inter in what was our second game at the Meazza within a few days.

With the second seasonal Meazza game culminating in a 1-1 draw after the win in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals earlier this January, the Nerazzurri racked up their 8th consecutive unbeaten game in the league (with the make-up being 6 wins and 2 draws), thus going undefeated in their 10th back-to-back fixture (namely, 8 wins and 2 honours even) in all competitions.

As the usual Stats Perform report from Opta Facts points out, Marco Carnesecchi‘s save from Lautaro’s spot-kick was his second-ever penalty save in Serie A, having also denied Pinamonti from the spot: only Oliver Baumann and Marcin Bulka (3 each) have saved more penalties in Europe’s current Big 5 leagues.

Closing off with the customary individual figures provided by the Serie A’s official Match Report: Éderson was the Atalanta player with the highest number of shots fired (2); the Brazilian midfielder also led the chart for most balls played (70), most passes (48) and was the best player in terms of successful passes on the final third alongside Davide Zappacosta (with 12 passes each). Mario Pašalić was the best Atalanta player in terms of ball retrievals (7).
