Koopmeiners’ brace seals 2-2 draw at Juventus

The Dutchman struck twice to cancel out the hosts' comeback

On the 28th matchday of the 2023-2024 Serie A TIM, Atalanta played out a hard-fought draw against Juventus at the Allianz Stadium in Turin, with Koopmeiners scoring a brace to reach double figures in the league.

Despite a strong start from the hosts, who saw a 13th-minute header saved by Carnesecchi and Danilo and Milik both miss long-range efforts, the deadlock was broken in the 35th minute when Pašalić found Koopmeiners, who beat Szczesny with his left foot to put Atalanta ahead.

The second half opened up with Scamacca combining with Pašalić, who burst into the box and was denied by the on-rushing Juventus goalkeeper. In the 51st minute, Chiesa first tested Carnesecchi (although Milik was offside in the build-up) and then shot wide from a good position. Scamacca fired wide on 55 minutes, and one minute later, Szczesny tipped his curling effort around the post before Juventus got their equaliser in the 66th minute through Cambiaso. After Cambiaso shot over on 69 minutes, Milik tapped home to give the Bianconeri the lead sixty seconds later. Atalanta’s response was immediate as Djimsiti and Koopmeiners combined to bring the Nerazzurri level on 75 minutes when the Albanian defender’s through ball sent the Dutchman through on goal to cancel out the hosts’ comeback. After a Kean header went wide in the dying minutes, the game ended in a 2-2 draw.
