Monza v Atalanta: the stats of the game

The figures from our road win over the Briantei

As the Nerazzurri ran out winners in Monza, Charles De Ketelaere and El Bilal Touré led Atalanta to a fourth consecutive Serie A win over the Brianzoli.

With now four different players flaunting a domestic tally of 7+ goals scored, Atalanta are the one and only Serie A team capable of flaunting such offensive prowess and diversity in equal measure. In case you wondered, the black-and-blue “who’s who” comprises the likes of: Teun Koopmeiners (10), Gianluca Scamacca (9), Ademola Lookman (8), Charles De Ketelaere (7).

With 13 goals favoured to his name between nets (7) and assists (6) thus far, only four Serie A midfielders flaunt better figures than Charles De Ketelaere: namely, Christian Pulisic (16), Teun Koopmeiners (15), Hakan Çalhanoglu (14). After finding his scoring debut away to Genoa last February, El Bilal has bagged his second seasonal goal, once again on the road, in Monza.

As pointed out by Stats Perform’s Opta Facts, having donned the “wingman” cape twice in last night’s game, a career first nonetheless, Ademola Lookman has now delivered six key passes in the Serie A, thus equalling last season’s bounty. Now standing at 21 nets and 12 assists, the Nigerian winger has now become the fifth Serie A player – after Kvaratskhelia, Leão, Dybala and Olivier Giroud – to have scored 20+ goals and delivered 10+ assists since the beginning of the previous campaign.

Closing off with the customary individual figures provided by the Serie A’s official Match Report,  while El Bilal and Lookman are the Nerazzurri benchmarks in terms of successful passes on the offensive third (tied with 13 each), the Nigerian winger solos the charts for most key passes (3 on par with two further Monza players) and for goal chances created (5). While De Ketelaere has the highest shots on target (2), Mario Pašalić is the leading Atalanta player in terms of both balls touched (62) and successful passes (43). Lastly, no other player has performed more ball retrievals than Isak Hien (7).
