Nerazzurri on international duty

For qualifying and friendly matches

The week that is about to end has seen a small number of Atalanta players train at the Centro Bortolotti in Zingonia, as thirteen footballers have been called up to their respective national teams during this international break. Pessina, Demiral, Musso and Muriel had the Qatar 2022 World Cup Qualifiers, while Scalvini will be playing in the Under-21 European Championships. All the other players will have friendly matches.

A great disappointment for Italy, who lost 1-0 against North Macedonia in the play-off semifinal and thus will not take part in the next World Cup in Qatar. Matteo Pessina was also part of Italy but didn’t feature.

The same goes for Merih Demiral’s Turkey, who were beaten 3-1 by Portugal. The Nerazzurri played the whole match.

The first Atalanta player to take to the pitch was Giorgio Scalvini (featured for the full 90 minutes), who drew 2-2 against Germany U19s on Wednesday. Primavera’s Samuel Giovane also featured in the Starting XI and was replaced in the 78th minute.

Colombia 3-0 Argentina, Luis Muriel played for 66 minutes. Tonight instead Juan Musso with Argentina will play against Venezuela.

Luis Muriel also played in a World Cup Qualifier tonight with Colombia, who beat Bolivia 3-0. The Nerazzurri forward played for 66 minutes.

Juan Musso’s Argentina will also play a Qatar 2022 qualifying match tonight (00:30 CET), as his national team take on Venezuela.

De Roon, Hateboer and Koopmeiners with the Netherlands, Mæhle with Denmark, Berat Djimsiti with Albania, Remo Freuler with Switzerland, Mihaila with Romania and Pašalić with Croatia will be involved in friendly matches instead.
