On matchday 8 of the 2022-2023 Primavera 1 TIM “Trofeo Giacinto Facchetti” championship, coach Fioretto’s Atalanta Under-19 side beat Fiorentina 3-2 at the end of a thrilling match full of twists and turns. Atalanta Primavera were trailing by one goal in the final minutes of the match but did not give up and managed to turn the game around in stoppage time through Vorlicky’s winner.
In the first half, Pardel first denied Kayode on 18 minutes and then Di Stefano on 27 minutes, while Atalanta threatened through Vorlicky in the 32nd minute, as his finish was just wide. In the 36th minute, Pardel had to pull off a great save on Di Stefano but Sene scored the opener for Fiorentina after just one minute.
Atalanta’s reaction sparked in the second half. Vorlicky smacked the post with a great left-foot shot on 59 minutes and two minutes later set up Stabile, whose fierce strike was charged down by a defender. The equaliser arrived in the 62nd minute through Muhameti, who nodded in from Palestra’s cross. Vorlicky’s angled drive on 68 minutes was inches off target and Vavassori missed a header on 74 minutes. Sene had the chance to restore Fiorentina’s lead but his right-foot shot was inches over. Vorlicky had another attempt in the 78th minute to give Atalanta the lead but was denied by the visiting goalkeeper. It was Elia who added another goal for the visitors in the 87th minute, though. However, coach Fioretto’s boys did not give up and Omar, who had just come off the bench, brought Atalanta level in the 91st minute with an angled drive assisted by Vavassori. And Vorlicky broke away from a few defenders in the 93rd minute to score an unstoppable winner that sealed the victory.
