MD21 of the 2023-2024 Primavera 1 TIM 2023-2024 saw coach Giovanni Bosi’s Atalanta U19s impose themselves 1-0 over Lecce at the Comunale di San Pietro stadium in Lama as Fiogbe (pictured in the cover) scored the winning goal in the added time of the first half.
After an initial speculative start, the Nerazzurri eventually tested Borbei with a twin chance within the first quarter: first, with a Fiogbe bicycle kick and then with a Bonanomi chance following a corner kick. Lecce’s retaliation came on 23 minutes as Daka’s angled drive ended up wide. In the 26th minute, Pardel neutered Brunete with a timely save to clear the opponents’ chance. 41 minutes in and back on the offensive for Atalanta: while Fiogbe’s cross-shot smacked the post, Ghezzi’s finish in the follow-up got deflected high over the bar. The Atalanta Primavera eventually took the lead in full stoppage time: while Capac only managed to sting Borbei’s gloves, it was Fiogbe who eventually broke the deadlock with a great header, nodding in a “masterstroke” key pass from Colombo.
As the second half saw the home side going all out for the equaliser, coach Bosi’s lads allowed the Salentini next to nothing, going instead on the offensive with skipper Guerini on 72 minutes. Despite Lecce’s forcing, not only did the black-and-blue defence prove itself resilient denying the hosts any chance, but they also had a chance to double their lead on the threshold of the match’s end, as Riccio’s angled drive on 89 minutes ended up a bit too wide to the side.
