As part of Matchday 20 of the 2022-2023 Primavera 1 TIM “Trofeo Giacinto Facchetti” league, the lads coached by Marco Fioretto drew 1-1 in the late outing played against Roma at the Tre Fontane stadium, thus clinching a precious point against the second force of the tournament after a hard-fought demanding match. Whereas Vorlický (pictured in the cover) scored the match opener for Atalanta in the first half, Roma levelled the score 15 minutes before the final whistle.
Starting off as early as 5 minutes into the match with Cherubini’s free kick coasting inches away from the target, the Nerazzurri managed nonetheless to stand their ground meeting head-on each and every opposing blow; so much so that the tide of the match eventually turned in favour of the Black-and-blues: on 35 minutes, Vlahović, after a stunning finishing work in the box, offered the ball to Vorlicky, thus providing a delectable assist that rewarded the movement of the Czech attacking midfielder, who loosened a left-footed banger making it 1-0. In the 38th minute, Bertini’s effortless save on a header by Cassano registered as the last highlight before halftime, with Atalanta approaching the break one goal up.
The second half opened with another save by Bertini, this time in the 50th minute, as the goalie denied Pisilli the equaliser with his foot. Atalanta were in with another chance 63 minutes into the match with Muhameti’s left-footed shot – ultimately defused by the red-and-yellow goalkeeper. On the 76’ came the equaliser as Pagano cleaves his shot into the corner after a good pass by Cherubini. As Roma stepped up their pressing, the attacking efforts of our opponents became more dangerous and closely spaced: with Roma’s siege tightening as Bertini saves on Falasca on 85 minutes and as Cherubini missed the target with a trick shot on 87 minutes. During extra time Atalanta proved to have legs for one last lunge: in the third minute, Stabile’s chance, a knee-jerk shot on goal after a Stabile through ball, got put behind for a corner and, on 96 minutes, Roaldsøy, after a great movement in the box, could not ultimately find the right opening for an assist. With the match at the Tre Fontane drawing to its close with 1-1 on the final scoreboard, the Primavera are to hit the pitch once again, this time at the Centro Bortolotti come Friday, for the home match against Juventus.
