Primavera Spal 1-2 Atalanta

Renault's and Sidibe's goals were decisive

On matchday 27 of the 2020-2021 Primavera 1 TIM “Trofeo Giacinto Facchetti” Atalanta claim a fundamental 2-1 over Spal at the stadium Mazza for the playoffs race. The goals from Renault (in the cover photo) and Sidibe were decisive.

It was a back-and-forth between the two teams at the start. Mamas broke the deadlock on 15 through a curler from a free-kick into the top corner, but the Nerazzurri’s reaction was immediate, as Renault scored the equalizer in the 18th minute by curling a wonderful right-footed shot into the far corner. This goal was followed by the attempts from the edge of Sidibe (on 24) and Cortinovis (on 36) that were saved by the goalkeeper. Before half-time, Campagna shot over and Ghisleni had a shot on target but Galeotti parried it with his foot for a corner.

Coach Brambilla’s team started off strong in the second half, as Renault won a free-kick that was then nodded into the net by Sidibe, who gave the Nerazzurri the lead in the 49th minute. A couple of minutes later, Italeng’s angled drive was saved by the hosts’ goalkeeper. Oliveri, who had just come off the bench, forced a save from Galeotti on 73 and Attys had a powerful shot from distance inches off target for Spal. The Nerazzurri went down to 10 men after Sidibe was sent off (for a second bookable offense) in the 82nd minute. Dajcar well-saved Yabre’s right-foot shot and on the other end, Italeng’s fierce right-foot shot went wide. At the Mazza stadium, it ended 2-1 for the Nerazzurri who pull ahead of Spal and get into fifth place on 45 points, waiting for Empoli’s match against Inter on Saturday.
