Second-half goals from Scamacca and Koopmeiners secured an important win away to Salernitana in match week 35 of the 2023/24 Serie A TIM. At the Stadio Arechi in Salerno, the Nerazzurri fought back to beat the home side 2-1 and catch Roma on 60 points, with a game in hand, on the day of coach Gasperini’s 300th Serie A match in charge of Atalanta.

Lookman tried his luck on five minutes but his curler went over, while Miranchuk’s left-footed shot was inches wide and Hateboer’s header on the quarter-hour was off-target. Salernitana broke the deadlock on 18 minutes through Tchaouna, who fired into the far bottom corner. The Nerazzurri tried to hit back through Lookman, who turned Scamacca’s pass wide. With the Nerazzurri throwing everything forward and the Salernitana defenders clearing away every chance, the first half ended 1-0.

In the second half, Carnesecchi made a fine save from Tchaouna’s long-range effort, while at the other end, Lookman fired inches wide in the 49th minute. The equaliser came in the 57th minute when Koopmeiners crossed for Pašalić, who nodded the ball back for Scamacca to tap in. The Nerazzurri took the lead in the 63rd minute when Koopmeiners made it 2-1 with a stunning long-range left-foot shot into the bottom corner. Scamacca threatened again on 68 minutes, but his right-footed shot went inches wide. In the 70th minute, Hateboer made a desperate goal-line clearance to deny Weissman, then Lookman’s header was tipped over for a corner by Fiorillo and Tchaouna fired over in the 88th minute. That was the last threat of the game as the Nerazzurri ran out 2-1 winners at the Stadio Arechi.
