The Lion roars again! After his close brush last month, the ItalianOptic Player of The Month Award is now his for the taking: crowning his literal golden moment with the much-coveted prize, the Atalanta striker has won his first-ever MVP title after blitzing the polls with an imperious paw.

After bowing down to a relentless Carnesecchi in March, Gianluca Scamacca upped the ante and outpaced the competition fair and square to etch his name in the POTM yearbook in April. Without overlooking his brace in Atalanta’s 3-0 away win over Liverpool, truly the crowning jewel of our 90’s month, April surely had Scamacca written all over it: from his stunners against Cagliari and Verona all the way to that jaw-dopping bicycle kick that put Atalanta 2-1 up in the Coppa Italia semi-final against Fiorentina. His 5 goals (plus another, albeit disallowed, banger as a cover letter) in 6 matches were the seal of approval on his POTM application.

Coming close in second, another of the Anfield marksmen, Pašalić; who surely knew how to live up to his nickname last month! With his spot-kick net against Empoli, (Super) Mario became the one and only midfielder with at least 5+ Serie A goals in the last 6 seasons. As a further plus, he sealed the 4-1 comeback over Fiorentina with a delectable lob.

Closing off the podium, another habitué of the pageant: Ademola Lookman! In addition to his two assists in the Monza win, the Nigerian wingman proved himself didn’t miss his dates with the goal either in April: from drafting Atalanta’s passage in the Coppa Italia final by making it 3-1 against Fiorentina to doubling the Nerazzurri’s lead in the Empoli game, of which he rightfully claimed Man of The Match honours.
