Toloi awarded by CONI for the Euro 2021 win

Toloi, together with former Atalanta player Matteo Pessina, was awarded the silver medal for Sporting Merits

Rafael Toloi received the CONI Bergamo award for his outstanding sporting merits: the ceremony, devised to reward all Bergamo-based athletes bringing success to the Province throughout 2021 was held on Tuesday, December 5, at the Yara Gambirasio Sporting Centre in Bergamo.

The Atalanta captain, who won the Euros with the Italian National team during the aforementioned sporting season, was awarded the silver medal for Sporting Merits by  Lara Magoni, provincial CONI delegate and regional Undersecretary for Sports, and by Marco Riva, regional CONI president. The other recipient of the award was former Atalanta player Matteo Pessina, also crowned European champions with the Azzurri.

“I’m very happy about this award – Toloi eagerly declared – because it brings back the most cherished memories from a remarkable night and from an outstanding professional milestone of mine. Reaching the National team was beyond my wildest dreams; let alone winning such a prestigious award. I couldn’t have made this dream come true without my family and my Atalanta teammates: as such, I can’t help but dedicate this award, which is my pride and joy, to each and every one of them”.
