World Cup: a faux pas for Mæhle’s Denmark

The Danish team defeated during the infamous "zona Cesarini" (last minutes)

Denmark came off worse in the last minutes of the match against France: the defending champions imposed themselves 2-1 over “De Rød-Hvide” as Mbappé scored a brace (with the French winger striking in the minutes 61 and 86 of the 2nd half) to nullify the temporary Danish equaliser scored by Christensen 68 minutes into the game.

On the flip side, Atalanta’s player Joakim Mæhle played the whole match for Denmark.

Today, the early game of Matchday 2 between Tunisia and Australia resulted in the 1-0 victory of the Socceroos .

The group stage as of Group D will wrap up next Wednesday with the fixtures of Matchday 3: respectively, Australia-Denmark and Tunisia-France, both to be played at 16:00 CET.

Standings: France 6 points and already qualified to the last 16; Australia 3 points; Denmark and Tunisia 1 point each.
In order to make it to the next stage, no other outcome but victory will suffice for Denmark.

Tomorrow, Sunday November 27, Mario Pašalić’s Croatia is back into play: with the match against Canada to Kick off at 17 CET.
