5 questions about Atalanta's season at home

We’re back this week again with the Trivia Tuesday, 5 questions about Atalanta to test our supporters’ knowledge. Wednesday 6th May marks the first anniversary of the beginning of the renovation works at the Gewiss Stadium, with the first historic act of demolition of the Curva Nord Pisani. Atalanta have played 10 matches at the Gewiss Stadium from the 6th of October, the day of the stadium debut: how well do you know Atalanta’s at-home season? Let’s get started!

1) How many goals have Atalanta scored at Gewiss Stadium this season?

29

The Nerazzurri, currently the best attack in Serie A with 70 goals, have a frightening average at Gewiss Stadium too. In Bergamo, they have scored almost 3 goals per game, with the exploits of the 7 goals against Udinese and of the five scored against Milan and Parma, between last and this year.

Atalanta scored against: Lecce (3), Udinese (7), Juventus (1), Verona (3), Milan (5), Parma (5), Spal (1), Genoa (2), Rome (2).

2) Who is the player with the most minutes played at the new Gewiss Stadium?

Rafael Toloi with 831′ played

It is the Brazilian defender the Atalantino who has accumulated the greatest number of minutes within the friendly walls. He hasn’t played only 69′ in front of the Nerazzurri crowd in this Serie A TIM: Atalanta-Lecce was on and Toloi substituted Simon Kjaer to play the last remnants of the match. On the other steps of the podium, we find Berat Djimsiti (817′) and José Luis Palomino (810′), the Brazilian’s trusted squires in the Atalantina 3-man defence.

3) Who is the top scorer of this season in home matches?

Josip Iličić with 8 goals

Not only is the Slovenian the current top scorer of Atalanta squad (21 goals), he is also the player who has scored the most at the Gewiss Stadium. He scored a brace against Udinese, Milan and Parma and scored a goal against Genoa and Spal. The home goals of the Nerazzurri number 72 rise to 9 if we also consider the goal scored at the “Tardini” in Parma against Fiorentina – his first goal of the season – in Serie A matchday 4.

4) Who’s scored the fastest goal from the kick-off at the Gewiss Stadium??

Papu Gomez

The Nerazzurri captain holds the record for the fastest goal scored at the Gewiss Stadium during this Serie A campaign. The wonderful 1-0 goal over Milan just after 10′ tops this ranking, he found the back of the net after a nutmeg on Conti. This singular ranking tells us that Papu scored also the second-fastest goal: it is the left-footed bomb from outside the box scored against Parma after only 11 minutes of play.

5) Who are the top providers of assists at the Gewiss Stadium this season?

Robin Gosens and Duván Zapata

Papu Gomez tops the leaderboard of in-season assists in Serie A TIM, but with 4 assists each, Robin and Duván are the Nerazzurri players that have most assists at home. An unusual record, if not for the German, who is a flank player, for the Colombian, who has won the heart of the fans with his goals.

Gosens’s assists: Atalanta-Lecce, for Zapata (1-0); Atalanta-Milan for Pašalić (2-0); Atalanta-Parma for Iličić (4-0); Atalanta-Roma for Pašalić (2-1).

Zapata’s assists: Atalanta-Lecce, for Gomez (2-0); Atalanta-Spal for Iličić (1-0); Atalanta-Genoa for Toloi (1-0) and Iličić (2-2).
