Duván Zapata: “Happy with the two goals”

Atalanta-Ajax post-match interview

Atalanta performed a comeback to draw 2-2 against Ajax, who were two goals up at the end of the first half. In the second half, Duván Zapata unleashed himself and scored both goals for the Nerazzurri, the first with his head, the second with his right foot: “Happy with the two goals”.

“Yes, I’m happy with the goal obviously. I would have been happier if we had won this match. It was a complicated match for us, but we turned it around, playing our football. That’s the positive thing about today. Even when in difficulty, we managed to equalise and almost won the match. We must continue with this spirit”.

It was 2-0 in the first half, it wasn’t easy to come back in this encounter. But in the second half Atalanta showed grit, determination, quality and desire.

“Yes, it wasn’t easy. We were a bit unlucky in the first half, as we had chances, but we lacked a bit of sharpness in finishing in the first half. In the second half we held on and scored goals. We almost won it. As I said before, our grit was important and it was important not to give up and being able to level up the match”.

Which was the most beautiful: the first or the second [goal]?

“Both. I’m happy because we kept on scoring. It’s a pity because it was close, perhaps if we had a bit more of energy at the end we could have won it, but it’s okay”.
