At the Bentegodi stadium in Verona it ends 1-1 against Hellas Verona on the 2019-2020 Serie A TIM Matchday 34. Zapata’s opener wasn’t enough to win, with this draw the Nerazzurri reach Inter in second place on 71 points, waiting for the other fixtures of the match day.
The first chance was on 13 and it was for Atalanta: nice give and go between Zapata and Pašalić which sent clear the Croatian in the box, but his finish was parried by the Verona goalkeeper. It was an even match, in which the great organisation of the two teams prevailed. On 23 a chance came for Verona, but Salcedo’s header on a corner was off target. In the final of the first half, Zapata turned in the box and fired a fierce shot which was parried by Silvestri on 42.
The opener came in the second half: Zapata, five minutes after the restart, made the most of Gunter error taking the ball away from him and beat Silvestri. The lead lasted ten minutes: Pessina scored the rebound, equalising for Verona, after Gollini had only parried a Verona effort. The Nerazzurri tried to get back into the lead, but Silvestri managed to save both Gomez’s strike and Zapata follow up. On the other front, Salcedo tested Gollini immediately after it. Also Muriel, who had just come on, tried to score, but Silvestri rushed out to deny him. The last chance of the game came in the 2nd minutes of stoppages with Pašalić, but his volley was inches wide.
