On matchday 13 of the 2022-2023 Serie A TIM, Napoli win 2-1 at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo.
Atalanta got off to a strong start, with Lookman sending Højlund clear on goal in the 4th minute but Meret parried with his foot. The deadlock was broken in the 19th minute with a penalty that was awarded to Atalanta after a VAR review for an Osimhen handball: the spot-kick was perfectly converted by Lookman, who sent the penalty into the roof of the net. However, Napoli’s reaction was not late in coming and Osimhen levelled up the match in the 23rd minute with a header. Napoli turned the game around in the 35th minute when Elmas found the back of the net to give the visitors the lead.
In the second half, Gasperini’s men came really close to bringing Atalanta level in the 55th minute, as Mæhle forced a save off Meret and then Lookman hit the crossbar on the rebound. In the 63rd minute, Lookman rolled a ball across the face of goal for Højlund, who came sliding in but missed the target. Simeone’s finish was just wide in the 78th minute and Malinovskyi’s long-range effort in the 82nd minute was saved. It ended 1-2 at the Gewiss Stadium.
