Atalanta v Frosinone: the stats of the game

17 Atalanta player on target so far this season

Atalanta ushered in the second half of the season with a 5-0 walkover against Frosinone. As pointed out by Stats Perform’s Opta Facts, Gasperini’s men clinched their fourth consecutive home win at the Gewiss Stadium. Surely enough, the three goals scored in less than 15 minutes took the lion’s share in setting the game on the winning path: a similar occurrence came about on the 4th of April 2019, when Atalanta scored four goals within the first quarter hour courtesy of three different scorers – namely, Iličić with a brace and single goals by Hateboer and Zapata.

Out of the last 56 Serie A matches that saw Atalanta close the first half on top, the Nerazzurri have claimed 47 wins and 9 draws: the last time the team knew a defeat under these circumstances dates back to the 1-2 home setback suffered against Spal back on the 20th of January 2020.

With both Davide Zappacosta and Emil Holm finding their first seasonal goal, and with the latter making his scoring debut with the black-and-blue shirt, the count of Atalanta’s different scorers for the 2023/24 season in all competitions rises to 17, more than any other Serie A side.

Featuring the scoreboard once again, Teun Koopmeiners is now on a streak, scoring (at least) one goal for the third consecutive match in all competitions – a career first for Teun. Since the beginning of the season, no other Serie A midfielder has scored more goals (15) than our Oranje number 7.

Marten de Roon provided his fifth league assist, with only Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Felipe Anderson having more key passes to their name (both tied with 6) in the Italian top flight so far. Directly involved in four goals (with 2 nets scored and 2 assists provided) in the last five league games, no other Atalanta player has favoured more Serie A goals than Charles De Ketelaere since the beginning of December.

Closing off with some more individual figures provided by the Serie A’s official Match Report: while Holm and Zappacosta were the players with the highest number of shots fired (with 4 attempts each), Koopmeiners was the game benchmark in terms of successful passes on the offensive third (15). Aleksey Miranchuk was the best player for both most goal chances created (5) and key passes provided (5). Ultimately, Marten de Roon was the Atalanta player flaunting the most balls played (76) and successful passes (55).
