aHere is the comment of coach Massimo Brambilla after the 5-0 victory away to Ascoli on matchday 29 of the 2020-2021 Primavera 1 TIM championship “Trofeo Giacinto Facchetti”: “We unlocked the game in the opening minutes and we immediately made it easy for us. We didn’t display the best performance of the year in the first half, as we made some mistakes and we almost got Ascoli back into the game when we were 2-0 up. In the second half, we managed the game well, instead. We put it to bed when we scored a third and we could have scored more goals”.

He was also extremely satisfied as the team qualified for the Final Stage with one round to spare: “It was a difficult season in many respects, with a lot of problems that we didn’t have in other seasons and that we had to face. So, the satisfaction is double because we never gave up, even in difficult moments. The credit goes to the lads who have always believed in it and have always worked with the right mindset. It was a year in which we always had to chase [the other teams] and, I repeat, great credit must be given to these guys who then bounced back and had a really exceptional season finale. In my opinion, there have been many key moments during this season. After a slow start, many small hints told us that we were on the right path because even when the results did not arrive, we always had the right performance. Thinking about the last period, the response we had after the defeat at home to Fiorentina with four victories in a row was decisive. That allowed us to get to where we are now: that was a real team reaction”.

The regular season rounds off on Wednesday against Inter at Zingonia and there is the possibility to finish among the top four should some combinations of favourable results occur: “Today we did what we had to, we reached the minimum goal we had set ourselves in the last period. Now we have to see the other teams’ results and then on Wednesday, we will have the last game, which we will play to win. According to the results of the others, there could also be the possibility of climbing up some positions. In the one-off matches of the Final Stage, anything can always happen, but a better position in the standings would give us the advantage to progress even by drawing. The third and fourth-placed teams will have this advantage in the 1st Round”.
