EURO2020: Pašalić’s goal wasn’t enough

Mario's goal gave Croatia qualification hopes

The goal scored by Mario Pašalić wasn’t enough for Croatia, unless it was highly important (it was Mario himself to start the play, get into the box and score), because it let the Croatians tie the game (3-3) on 92′ and forced extra time, keeping Croatia’s qualification hopes alive.

Finally, it was Spain who won the match and made it to the next round. Therefore, Mario Pašalić – who scored the seventh Nerazzurri goal at EURO2020 – and Croatia ended their journey in the Round of 16.

At the end of the match, Mario was interviewed by Sky and was asked if he had expected this “Atalanta outburst” at EURO2020 (nine Nerazzurri players were called up to their national teams): “I didn’t expect that we would do so well. We all played, someone more, someone less, and we scored: this proves that Atalanta are doing incredible things”.
