In the 25th round of the 2022-2023 Primavera 1 TIM league “Trofeo Giacinto Facchetti”, Atalanta U19s claimed a very important 3-2 victory away to fourth-placed Fiorentina at the end of a thrilling match rich in goals. Showing great personality, coach Fioretto’s Atalanta Primavera secured their third win in a row.
Although Colombo’s wonderful goal broke the deadlock within 3 minutes, giving Atalanta an early lead, Fioretto’s lads lost captain De Nipoti to injury, who was replaced by Vlahović (in the cover; stock photo). And it was the Serbian himself who doubled Atalanta’s lead, nodding in his first goal assisted by Colombo. However, in the fourth minute of added time, Fiorentina pulled one back through a Di Stefano penalty.
In the second half, the Viola pushed hard in search of an equaliser, but Atalanta were determined to take the three points home. Bertini’s save on Lucchesi’s close-range effort proved decisive in the 72nd minute, and so again Vlahović extended the black-and-blue lead from a corner kick in the 85th minute. Fiorentina were awarded another penalty, which was first parried by Bertini but then was retaken, which cut the gap for the Viola, but it did not suffice as the match ended 2-3.
