Primavera: Juventus 1-4 Atalanta

Vavassori with the opener, then Vlahović’s double and Manzoni’s goal

Matchday 10 of the 2023-2024 Primavera 1 TIM “Trofeo Giacinto Facchetti” League saw coach Bosi’s lads beat Juventus 4-1 with a top-notch performance at the Juventus Training Center in Vinovo.

The Nerazzurri’s convincing and strong start saw Vlahović threaten with a header that was inches over in the 9th minute and Vavassori (pictured in the cover) give Atalanta the lead one minute later with a right-foot effort into the far bottom corner. On 15 minutes, Vlahović had the ball in the net assisted by Vavassori but the goal was ruled out for offside. After a few chances for Colombo and Bonanomi, Pardel was tested by Vacca on 32 minutes. Vlahović managed to double the Nerazzurri’s lead with an absolute beauty: after dribbling his way past Juventus’ defence, the Primavera’s striker hammered a thunderous left-footed curler into the far top corner, nullifying the opposing keeper’s attempt of deflection. Despite Juve’s retaliation, the Primavera’s defence left little to no opening, with the most relevant black-and-white chance being Pagnucco’s cross-shot brushing the upper side of the crossbar before bouncing off in the far end on the brink of half-time.

The second half saw Juventus half the gap and almost score the equaliser within a 6 minutes’ span: not only did Turco’s header find the back of the net on 60 minutes from a corner shot, but was the same Bianconero striker that went inches away from levelling the match as his shot on 66 minutes hit the bar. The 72nd minute was instead marked by another Vlahovic stunner: after gathering Manzoni’s long ball, the Serbian striker slotted in his second of the match after skipping past the opposing keeper to restore Atalanta’s 2-goal lead. On 76 minutes, Simonetto tested Vinarcik with a left-footed angled drive from a tight spot. On 90 minutes, Atalanta sealed the 3 points with the fourth and last goal of the match: Manzoni went solo and, after speeding past his last marker, finished with a chip shot. With today’s win, the Nerazzurri climb up to 17 points in the standing, overtaking none other than Juventus in the process.
