Three facts about Torino v Atalanta

Brush up with us on the upcoming clash

The closing game of matchday 14 the 2023-2024 Serie A TIM will see Atalanta take on Torino at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino in what will be the 129th top-flight clash between the two sides.

How many goals did Zapata score in his Nerazzurro stint?

Landed in Bergamo in the summer of 2018, Zapata didn’t take long to leave his mark in Atalanta’s first, crucial, UEFA Champions League qualification. After scoring a brace in the qualifying Europa League tie against Hapoel Haifa, the Cafetero struggled to find his scoring ways in the league until the MD11 clash against Bologna: from then onwards, there was simply no stopping Duván’s features on the scoresheets, adding other 22 nets to his name in the following 26 games. In the following four seasons (plus the first two matches of the current campaign), Zapata scored three more multiple Serie A hauls and netted critical Coppa Italia and Champions League goals: the closing balance of Duván‘s stint as a Nerazzurro features the whopping tally of 82 goals, of which 69 were scored in the Serie A – making him Atalanta’s best all-time scorer in the Italian top flight on par with Cristiano Doni.

How many appearances did Adopo make as a Granata?

In addition to the two Serie A caps in the 2018/19 season, oddly enough both against Roma, for Torino, Ndary Adopo accrued 9 further appearances in Turin last season. Widening the scope out of the Italian top-flight division, Atalanta’s current #25 featured in two Coppa Italia games, with his most notable feat in the domestic cup being the winning goal to seize the Meazza stadium against Milan. Doing the math, Ndary has 13 professional caps to his name as a Granata in all competitions, besides of course the 50 matches played for the Torino Primavera in his Academy days.

Who scored in the last Torino v Atalanta match played on a Monday?

The last time Torino and Atalanta faced off on a Monday evening was in the 2005/06 season when both sides were in contention for a Serie A spot. In the late kick-off of the 26th round of the Serie B, Rosina’s 20th-minute penalty put Torino in front before Nicola Ventola unleashed his scoring spree in the second half: the Italian forward first equalised with a fabulous back-heel flick assisted by Adriano on 67 minutes, then gave Atalanta the lead six minutes later from the spot. However, Torino were not done yet and Rosina’s brace in the 82nd minute sealed the 2-2 draw for the hosts.
