Udinese v Atalanta: the stats of the game

Gasperini seized his 500th Serie A point for Atalanta

Beyond the point claimed by Atalanta in Udine thanks to Éderson’s equaliser in full “Zona Cesarini”, yesterday’s draw meant Gian Piero Gasperini’s 500th Serie A point ever since taking the helm of the Nerazzurri team. In Udine the coach native of Grugliasco set a truly historic first, being the first and only Atalanta coach to have reached such a momentous milestone: Gasperini crossed the 500-point line after 278 matches on the grounds of 144 wins and 68 draws.

Éderson has once again overridden his personal scoring best, with 4 league goals – mounting up to 5 if we also factor his UEFA Europa League net in – to his name so far: moreover, the Carioca midfielder has found his scoring ways in 3 of the last 5 Serie A matches. The assist provider was none other than Davide Zappacosta, making his debut as a “wingman” in the Serie A but already racking up his third seasonal assist after the two key passes dished out in the Europa League. As Stats Perform’s Opta Facts pointed out, out of the 18 assists provided by the wingback throughout his Serie A career, never before had Zappa performed such a last-minute “delivery”, with 91:41 on the stopwatch.

Moreover, as further seen in the Opta Facts by Stats Perform, Éderson was also both the best player in terms of successful passes (63) and long balls (10) and the Nerazzurro to have won the most aerial duels (3), tied with Teun Koopmeiners.

While Sead Kolašinac and Davide Zappacosta were, respectively, Atalanta’s best ball retriever (11) and the most prolific crosser (4) overall of the game, Berat Djimsiti was the second player in terms of pass completion rate (54).
