The Player of Month is an initiative in partnership with ItalianOptic, one of Atalanta’s Silver Sponsors as well as a Sleeve Sponsor of our Youth Academy.

Each month you can name the best player on the ItalianOptic app.

March - Marco Carnesecchi

Carnesecchi had his tentacles wrapped around everything and everywhere of late: this time it was the Player of the Month Award for March that got entangled in his coils.

Already a serious contender for the POTM award in February, Marco claimed his first-ever feature in the Player of The Month yearbook. What tipped the scale in Carnesecchi’s favour in March were surely the save on Calafiori’s point-blank header in Atalanta v Bologna and the cat-like reflexes showcased to nullify Osimhen’s rebound on Lobotka’s ranged shot in the road victory against Napoli, where Carnesecchi also won the sympathies of the Nerazzurri fans to claim the Man of the Match award.

After taking the ItalianOptic polls by storm, the Atalanta goalie saw off the fierce competition of Scamacca, who claimed runner-up honours mainly thanks to his key contribution in the UEL RO16 tie against Sporting and his banger against Napoli, and Koopmeiners, who claimed the bronze medal for the third month in a row after scoring three goals, namely a brace against Juventus and the closing net against Napoli.

February - Charles De Ketelaere

Charles started the black-and-blue February on the right foot (or rather left, in his case) by single-handedly leading Atalanta’s offensive in the 3-1 win over Lazio: after setting the opening into motion, he doubled the Nerazzurri’s lead with an ice-cold finish from the spot before hogging the playmaking limelight in the second half. The following week he broke the deadlock at the Luigi Ferraris stadium with an undisputed banger, bound to be one of the best bets for the upcoming Goal of the Month award. But if this was not clear enough, CDK was also crowned Atalanta’s MVP of the two games above by the Nerazzurri fans, who then confirmed their pick in the POTM ballots.

In second place is Marco Carnesecchi, thanks to two MVP titles in the last month, while on the third step of the podium is Teun Koopmeiners, who contributed three goals.

January - Aleksey Miranchuk

Miranchuk opened up the year on the right foot with: one goal and one assist in the 3-1 win over Sassuolo, another key pass against Roma, the penalty awarded in the comeback win against Milan and another goal in the Udinese clash. Aleksey became a household name on the Nerazzurri’s sheet in four out of the five January fixtures. As a cherry on top, Miranchuk was named the January ItalianOptic Player of the Month by the Atalanta fans.

In second place is Charles De Ketelaere, thanks to his three goals and three assists, while on the third step of the podium is Teun Koopmeiners, who contributed four goals.

December - Mario Pašalić

The last POTM of 2023 is SuperMario Pašalić! Thanks to a solid run of form from the whole team, December was a month that kept on giving for Atalanta. In the end, it was Mario Pašalić who, deservedly, picked up the gong, being literally everywhere at once this month, with great displays and a goal.

In second place is Ademola Lookman, while the third step of the podium bears Luis Muriel‘s name.

November - Éderson Dos Santos

Back-to-back wins for Éderson! The Brazilian midfielder wangles another run on the carousel: after last month’s swoop his encore was anything but “Desafinado”. The ItalianOptic Player of The Month sways to the rhythm of Bossa Nova once again.

Eyes on the second step of the podium, though, as Ademola Lookman‘s performances surely didn’t go unnoticed. Who else to complete the podium but a bulwark of Atalanta’s defence? Berat Djimsiti has been the epitome of iron focus.

October - Éderson

After his first-ever feature in the contest last April, Éderson claimed his second ItalianOptic Player of the Month award in October!

Despite his already solid season start, Éderson’s performance simply skyrocketed at the turn of the calendar and culminated in an astonishing October: him being a lynchpin of Atalanta’s starting XIs and having been substituted just once are but a mere reflection of his top-notch, consistent and spotless performances. And to top it all off, Éderson came into his own also scoring-wise, leaving his mark against Lazio and Genoa.

The runner-up was none other than Gianluca Scamacca, while the third step of the podium was shared by Matteo Ruggeri, the scorer of Atalanta’s second goal in the Lisbon night, and Marten de Roon, a regular of the POTM podiums.

August/September - Charles De Ketelaere

The Atalanta fans cast their vote on the ItalianOptic app and named Charles De Ketelaere as the first Player of the Month of the 2023/24 season!

All hail King Charles the First! As you might have noticed, De Ketelaere has taken the motto “the early bird takes the worm” at face value: he saw the right opening and, after taking Atalanta’s fandom by storm with his goals against Sassuolo and Raków, his assists and tricks, brought the first ItalianOptic Player of The Month award home!

Joining him on the podium were Teun Koopmeiners – a household name of the ItalianOptic branded contest – and another one of our 2023 summer signings, Sead Kolašinac!
