About the SLO (Supporter Liaison Officer)

The Supporter Liaison Officer (SLO) has the task of maintaining adequate relations with the public; the purpose of its function is to build, preserve, consolidate and develop the “unique bond” of the Club with their fans. This role was introduced by UEFA to commit clubs to improve their relationship with their supporters and to better organise their participation in events and initiatives. The introduction of the SLO meets the need of improving communication between the interested parties and making it more trasparent.
Therefore, the SLO carries out a crucial role for the relationships, dialogue and communication between the Club and the fans.

HOW WAS THE POSITION OF THE SLO INTRODUCED?
As provided for by the Article 35 of the UEFA Club Licensing and Financial Fair Play – Edition 2010, starting from the sports season 2012/2013, all the European clubs that participate in the UEFA competitions shall appoint a responsible for the relationships with the fans (Supporter Liaison Officer – SLO) in order to guarantee an adequate and constructive dialogue between the Club and their fans.
Therefore, the FIGC (the Italian Football Federation) initially adopted the dispositions of the UEFA Licensing Manual and therefore on the National Professional Leagues’ initiative have extended the obligatoriness of the position of the Supporter Liaison Officer for all the professional football clubs, including the norms that regulate admission to the League through the issue of the National License.

THE MISSION
The main objective of the SLO is to make a channel of direct and bidirectional dialogue with the Club available to fans; to provide and exchange general information, welcome, build, share and offer activities, motions and initiatives with groups of fans, sponsor the positive participation of supporters in the Club’s activity and increase the quality of the services offered to the fans.
As per current legislation (including Official Statement No. 326/A and the Code of Sports Justice of the Italian Football Federation), the SLO represents the Club’s only officer responsible for the bidirectional communication with the fans.
