Atalanta beat Lecce 7-2 and Gian Piero Gasperini is visibly satisfied in the interview with Sky Sport: “70  goals scored in 25 matches? That is what makes us proud the most, it is also a decisive factor to help us turn matches around like we did today: this team put the ball back in the centre-circle and continue their usual football. Unlike the first half, the team did not lose their concentration in the second half and those who come off the bench want to score and to show what they can do: that is where such results come from”.

“Coming here to play was not easy” – Gasperini continues – “Lecce had had important results lately and were living a good moment. This kind of performance gives us strength for the league, the target is to replicate our performance in the first half of the season: by doing that we would be in the Champions League at the end of the season again”.

“Do we concede too much sometimes? We get a little more distracted sometimes, paradoxically when we take the lead. I do not know if it is a psychological aspect, but we are working on it. We have had most of the difficulties when we seemed to assume the job was done… We know what our different attitudes are, but sometimes we pay the price when we think we can sit and control a match that it is still long to play. On the other hand, we undoubtedly have the ability to restart from our best knowledge”.
