UCL Last 16: update on Valencia

Celades's team sit in seventh place in the league

Valencia, Atalanta’s next 2019-2020 UCL round of 16 opponents, in the last fixture of the league beat Barcelona 2-0 at home, making the Blaugrana lose the top of the league. The game was decided in the second half through Jordi Alba’s own goal and Maxi Lopez scoring in the final stages of the match. Thanks to this victory, the team coached by Albert Celades, got up to 34 points in the table, always sitting in seventh place joint with Real Sociedad, shortening their gap from fourth place – therefore the Champions League spot – to just two points.

The Spanish side won away on 29th January to Cultural Leonesa in the Copa del Rey last 16, qualifying for the cup quarter finals

Before the UCL round of 16 first leg on 19th February, they will play three more matches: against Celta at home in the league, then Getafe away and, in the end, the clash at the Mestalla against Atletico Madrid.
