More than 4000 goals in over 113 years

Muriel scored the 4000th

There are 4,003 goals scored in 3,351 league games played from 1907 to today: these are important numbers and are related to Atalanta’s over one hundred year history.

It is a special register on which, just last Sunday at Parma, Luis Muriel wrote his name alongside the 4000th Atalanta goal, thanks to the second goal he scored against the Crociati.

This story of the Atalanta goals began on November 8, 1914, on the occasion of the match that Atalanta lost against Enotria by 2-1. Unfortunately, the name of the scorer of the Nerazzurri’s first goal remains unknown.

The 1,000th goal was actually an own goal, which was scored by Franco Pian in the match that Atalanta won 3-0 at San Siro against Inter on February 22, 1948.

The 2000th goal dates back to the 30th of March 1975: Augusto Scala’s goal, the only one of the match, sealed the win for the Nerazzurri in the Atalanta-Taranto Serie B match.

The 3000th goal was scored by Pinardi on the 2nd of February 2003 in Serie A: Atalanta-Juventus, the match of that day, ended 1-1.

If Luis Muriel scored the 4,000th goal of the Atalanta history in a league match, Ruslan Malinovskyi scored the 100th Nerazzurri goal of the current season at Parma. And this is another important statistical number, as Atalanta have scored more than 100 goals for the third consecutive year. In this case, the goals of Serie A, Champions League and Coppa Italia are added together. And, after the match against Benevento, the number of goals this season has already risen to 106.
