Mission accomplished: coach Brambilla’s Atalanta have secured a spot in the 1st round of the Final Stage with one round to spare by beating Ascoli 5-0 at the Comunale in Sant’Egidio alla Vibrata on matchday 29 of the 2020-2021 Primavera 1 TIM “Trofeo Giacinto Facchetti” championship.
The Nerazzurri got off to a strong start and Scalvini made it clear after five minutes, as the defender beat the goalkeeper from inside the box after a nice personal move. Atalanta got dangerous again on 25 but Cortinovis’ shot was straight at the goalkeeper. The hosts also had a chance on 33 as Intinacelli’s finish was just wide. The Nerazzurri doubled their lead in the 40th minute through Italeng with a great header. Before half-time, Ghisleni’s header was saved by the goalkeeper and Ascoli hit the post in stoppages after Scalvini deflected the shot.
In the second half, Gyabuaa virtually finished it off after eight minutes by nodding Renault’s cross in. Italeng (whose finish was inches wide on 58) almost made it 4-0 but a fourth goal was added anyway by captain Cortinovis on 75, as he converted a penalty won by Ghislandi. Oliveri also found the back of the net, as he nodded in from Ghislandi’s free-kick in the 82nd minute. This is the fourth win in a row for the Nerazzurri, which earns them 51 points and the qualification to the Final Stage.
